Despite its authentic charm, it is a paradise for hikers and nature lovers. As the second island on the GR131 long-distance route, we offer both group and individual trekking options.
In addition to these treks, there are carefully crafted package tours designed for those who want to experience the island’s natural beauty. These trips combine hiking along volcanic paths and spectacular coastlines with optional car tours, all while maintaining the island’s authenticity and tranquility.
Our activities are simple and respectful of nature, such as walking with goats, day hikes along the west coast filled with local legends, or visits to local farmers producing traditional cheese, olive oil, and jam.

De GR131 Camino Natural Fuerteventura
What will you experience while walking across this stunning island? It’s a diverse adventure! Your journey begins on the charming small island of Los Lobos. You trek between volcanoes towards the ancient Betancuria mountains, where nature’s vastness makes you feel truly small. After a challenging hike through the Cardón Mountains, you arrive at the wild west coast, greeted by a refreshing natural swimming pool. From here, a short walk leads you to the peaceful east coast with expansive beaches and a turquoise sea stretching endlessly. Your trip concludes at the southern lighthouse. Along the way, you’ll stay in carefully chosen, charming accommodations handpicked by us.
The GR131 Fuerteventura is the second island of the long distance route
In the north of Fuerteventura, in Corralejo, begins this tour. A trek of 620 km crossing all the Canary Islands. The accommodations are carefully chosen here as well—small-scale and charming. We stay overnight in traditional fincas and casas rurales, far from mass tourism.

The trip isn’t extremely difficult but does require fitness; each day we walk around 20 kilometers on unpaved trails through rugged and desolate volcanic landscapes. Fuerteventura stretches about 160 km with gentle mountains. Still, you’ll climb 1567 meters in total elevation gain.

The hiking pin of the GR131
Our unique hiking pin. Each island has its own color. You get this hiking pin when you complete the GR131 Camino Naturales on one of the seven islands. With a group tour you get this at the end of the trip. With an individual trip you take a stamp ticket with you that you have signed off at various locations. With this card you will receive your earned hiking pin. You are eligible for this if the trip is booked with Canary Hiking!
